Electric Violins The Wagner Electric Violins come with a choice of two kinds of piezo pickups. Optionally, both are available with a selector switch. The sweetest tone is achieved through the contact piezo installed inside the body. The signal is very clean and hot, the tone is as natural as any we've found. Our own piezos are of a somewhat larger size than most because the larger diameter increases the flex ratio, resulting in better response to the lower frequencies. In addition, we mill the base of each piezo to further increase the flex ratio. Piezos have no problem with high tones so we go after the basic problem area, the low tones. The second choice of piezo is installed in the bridge. This further reduces stage problems such as feedback and body microphoning, but is a less natural sound. We can install both together with a selector switch. |

Our passive systems produce a very strong signal which is highly modifiable when run to a board. Our active systems let you by-pass the inevitable conflict between your wishes and the ego of the sound man who controls your life for 45 minutes of every set. Our acoustic electric violins are designed primarily as stage performance instruments. This means we do not voice these to sound like concert violins. We leave a good, rich acoustic sound in the violin but we recognize that the more alive the acoustic body, the more limited the electronic capabilities. We make no pretense that these are descendants of Stradivarii. We simply give you a powerful and natural sound that lets you move around the stage freely, unimpaired by the microphone. Mr. Wagner is open to discuss a custom ratio of this compromise between stage performance and acoustic performance. It can be done, and you can have a rich acoustic violin that still performs well on stage. But our primary concern with these electric violins is that they optimize your stage performance, their acoustic qualities being compromized to that affect. |
