Electric Violins The solid body violins open up new parameters of form and function. Free of acoustic considerations, the body of the violin may be designed with greater accommodation for electronics and ergonometrics. Our main features include the ability to accept any standard shoulder rest and chinrest, a high resistance to feedback, a drastic reduction of body microphoning, and an excellent balance off the shoulder. As feedback resistant as an electric guitar, you're free to roam the stage at extreme pressure levels with little regard for speaker placement or volume settings. |

The basic model, pictured here in blue, is sturdy, sharp looking, and trouble free. Many other colors are available. Priced at $650 including a hardshell case and bow. More elaborate models can range up to $2500 for exotic woods and inlays. There are choices of top veneers that produce different tones by softening or hardening the bridge footing. The 8-string here has a spalted oak top veneer which offers a softer footing than regular oak or maple. Spalted camphor is incredibly beautiful and yields a very soft footing that sweetens the sound considerably. Spruce and pine, walnut, crotch oak, and many other beautiful woods are available. |

The pictured 8-string is $2500. The strings are doubles, but can also be strung in octaves. While the bow is in action, the strings cannot "sympathize." They remain exactly an eighth of an inch out of phase while being bowed. This gives an ethereal ghostly sound that is similar to playing through a chorus pedal. When plucked, or if released by the bow, they immediately "sympathize" and sound like two perfectly tuned strings played in unison. The choice of geared tuners greatly eases tuning. |
